Focus Groups

Evaluating the risk involves some form of consultation or exploration of the most commonly reported hazards identified in the risk assessment. This usually takes the form of focus groups with staff.

The effectiveness of these sessions depends on:

  • Planning
  • Communication of Aims
  • Mix of staff attending
  • Good facilitation
  • Action based focus

External facilitation can help to ensure they are effective and can make staff feel more comfortable and open to discuss the issues and explore solutions. We can facilitate these focus groups, which usually last about 2 hours and involve up to 12 staff. The outcomes of these focus groups informs the action plan.
