Action Planning
The main focus of the risk management process is the action plan. It can take time to get to the action planning phase and we support our clients in developing and reviewing these action plans and ensuring that the momentum is maintained. Effective action planning means recording the outcomes of the risk assessment and evaluation, developing suitable solutions and ensuring that they are implemented and reviewed. Action planning can take place at different levels:
- Organisational level action planning (addressing the risks common across the organisation)
- Department or operational level action planning (addressing the risks specific to one part of the organisation)
- Team level action planning (addressing risks within teams to ensure local issues are addressed)
At whatever level, action plans should be evidence based, solutions focused, assigned a champion, time specific, monitored and reviewed.
